Shipping Information
Shipping on all orders is free. If you compare our prices to other
website vendors like Vital Choice, our delivered prices are often less.
Our delivered prices are often lower than some equivalent retail
brands. Even with free shipping, we are still able to contribute a
percentage of profits to salmon habitat restoration / preservation AND
we pay a "Fair Trade" price to fishermen.
All shipments are sent Fed Ex Overnight Next Day
Air, Monday through Thursday, in specially designed insulated
containers, with non-toxic refrigerant. All orders will be shipped
within 72 business hours under normal circumstances.
Orders should arrive frozen and should be removed from their case and
placed in the freezer until use. Always thaw product in your
refrigerator, overnight, prior to use. Occassionally orders may arrive
partially thawed. If this is the case, upon arrival simply remove
product from case and place in your freezer until future use.
We ship with FedEx Monday through Thursday for deliveries to U.S.
addresses only (contiguous 48 states only). FedEx must have a street address for delivery. They
will not deliver to P.O. Boxes. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the
timely delivery of our products in the event of natural disasters or
other "acts of God."
Handling
All Conservation Salmon fish products are shipped frozen. We take great
care to ensure that they arrive at your door in excellent condition
with minimal thawing. A small amount of thawing is inevitable
particularly in warmer climates. You certainly may refreeze the product
without a noticeable effect on the quality or nutritional value.
Smoked Salmon Our smoked salmon is ready to eat after thawing
in the refrigerator. Unopened vacuum packed smoked salmon has a
refrigerated shelf life of four to seven days (12 months frozen). After
opening, these smoked
products must be refrigerated and are best consumed within two to three
days.
Fresh-Frozen Fish
Fish shipped for cooking may be put in the freezer until use (even if
your order arrives partially thawed). You can successfully cook
Conservation Salmon seafood products frozen or thawed. If cooking from
a frozen state, be sure your stove top skillet is medium-high
temperature, and lightly coat the portion with cooking oil (not butter
or olive oil). Cook covered, so the fish does not dry out. Allow 6-8
minutes per inch of thickness, turning after 3-4 minutes. A sharp knife
should easily enter the portion, and the flesh should be translucent
when done. Any spices should be added near the end of the cooking so
they do not form a crust on the portion. If you prefer cooking thawed
portions, we recommend
removing the portion from the vac pack and fully thawing fresh-frozen
fish overnight in your
refrigerator, covered with plastic wrap. Never leave frozen fish out on
the kitchen counter to
thaw. Unopened non-smoked salmon and halibut packages have a
refrigerated shelf life of approximately three days.
Long-Term Storage
Freezing is recommended for the long term storage of smoked or fresh-frozen fish products. Freezing in the unopened vacuum
pouch will not noticeably alter the fine quality and texture of the
product if it is consumed within one year.
Packaging
Our products are shipped frozen and packed in insulated shipping boxes,
with gel ice packs inside. The gel ice maintains the product integrity
and quality even when some thawing occurs in the process of shipping.
We have designed our insulated shipping boxes to assure the safe
delivery of the world's best fish to your home. You are welcome to keep
the gel ice packs for your own future use. Just rinse gel ice packs
clean and store in your freezer.
